About RangerIO
RangerIO is developed by D2V Labs, a Canadian software company. It helps professionals inspect, organize and review sensitive information before using it in AI-assisted work.
RangerIO's core data engine runs on the user's computer. It imports and profiles files, detects potentially sensitive information, stores review corrections, and prepares information for retrieval, analysis or an approved AI provider.
External model and connector use is controlled by the user's configuration. RangerIO does not eliminate the need for review, security policy or professional judgment.
Why RangerIO was created
AI services can improve research, analysis and document work. Professional files can also contain personal information, confidential terms, financial details, health information and other material that requires careful handling.
Many AI workflows begin by sending source information to another service. That may be appropriate when the destination and transfer are understood and approved, but it should not be the automatic first step.
RangerIO adds a local preparation and review layer. Information can be inspected close to its source, reviewed by someone who understands the work, and prepared for a local model or an approved external provider.
RangerIO and RangerIO Plus
Both editions contain the same core data engine. The difference is how local model-assisted work is provided.
RangerIO
RangerIO includes file and directory import, structure analysis, profiling, dossier storage, privacy review and corrections, indexing and retrieval, standard exports, and the local connector service.
For model-assisted work, RangerIO uses a provider configured by the user. This can be an external local provider such as Ollama, LM Studio or vLLM, or an approved cloud provider.
RangerIO Plus
RangerIO Plus includes the same data engine and adds RangerIO's bundled llama.cpp/GGUF local inference runtime with RangerIO-managed local-model setup.
It is intended for users who want the local model runtime packaged and managed within RangerIO rather than configured as a separate provider.
Local ingestion and analysis can operate without a cloud provider. Configured cloud providers and external connector hosts require network access for those functions.
