Reporting Issues
Bug Reports
Before reporting, please:
- Update to the latest version (Help → About)
- Check the FAQ for known solutions
When you report, include:
- RangerIO version (Help → About)
- Operating system and version
- Hardware (CPU, RAM, GPU)
- Steps to reproduce
- Expected vs. actual behavior
- Any error messages
- Log file from Help → Open Logs Folder
Send the report through your support channel. Enterprise customers have a dedicated contact; everyone else can reach us via the website's support form.
Feature Requests
Include:
- What you want to do
- Why it's useful and who else would benefit
- How you envision it working
- Any alternatives you've considered
Updates
RangerIO does not auto-check for updates — that's a privacy decision, not an oversight. To check manually:
- Help → About RangerIO to see your current version
- Visit the website to compare against the latest release
- Download the new installer; your projects, dossiers, models, and PII overrides are preserved across updates
Security
Reporting security issues
Do not report security vulnerabilities through public channels. Use the website's security contact form with the subject Security: and include a detailed description, reproduction steps, and impact assessment.
We acknowledge security reports within 24-48 hours. Fix timeline depends on severity; we coordinate disclosure with reporters.
Security best practices for users
- Keep RangerIO current — apply security patches when released
- Secure your laptop — enable full-disk encryption (FileVault on macOS, BitLocker on Windows); restrict project-folder permissions
- Review the Privacy Scan — confirm column-level overrides before exporting or routing through the Stage 2 connector
- Audit exports — RangerIO records what was sent and what was masked; review the local audit trail when sharing data externally
Contact
Use the website's contact form for general inquiries, sales, technical support, or security reports. Enterprise customers receive a dedicated contact at onboarding.
Legal
The bundled local models in the Full edition ship under their respective open-weight licenses (Apache 2.0, MIT, Llama Community License) — all commercially permissible. Cloud models you connect via the Stage 2 connector are governed by your subscription with that provider.
See Help → About → Licenses inside the app for the full third-party attributions list.
